Margin for placing new order - whether margin benefit available from existing positions?

if I place an order to say shorting one lot of Future, and before placing the order I already have say a 'Short Put' & 'Long Call' for same expiry and underlying, in my open positions, will I get any benefit of margin setoff (e.g. if I place offsetting positions in a basket order, I get margin benefit)?

Assume 'Normal' orders, no MIS.

Please also advise, if this should be placed as 'Basket order' or 'single'? whether any reference of previous order (of open positions) need to be included.

Thanks in advance

This forum is for KiteConnect api . For queries regarding kite platform, you can ask here https://support.zerodha.com/ or
https://tradingqna.com/ . For now, yes, you will get margin benefit from open positions, but, you should have enough margin to sell one future lot without margin benefit. Only after the order is placed, the margin will be released. So,if you don't have enough margin for that , it's better to use basket orders to use margin benefit directly.
