GTT - Market Protection

Saleem
From today onwards, If I am placing a GTT order - Single sell, I am getting this error...
"Market Protection is required for MARKET orders. GTTs fire unattended and must have price protection."

How do i enable market protection while setting the GTT?

Thanks,
Saleem

GTT orders, once triggered, will place a limit order. You can refer to the GTT support article for more details on the order flow and functionality.

Please note that market orders are not supported through API for general orders. For use cases requiring market-like execution, you can use Market Protection, which helps manage execution while providing protection against significant price impact.

I am not sure, I understand, why I cannot place MARKET orders for Stop Loss.
In simple terms, I want to exit, the moment the LTP goes below a certain price. I am not sure, I understand, why should I place a LIMIT type order?

To place a market order through GTT, you need to use the Market Protection parameter. You can refer to the relevant documentation for details on the available parameters and implementation.

We may support Trailing GTT orders in future updates; however, there is currently no estimated timeline (ETA) for this feature. You may refer to this support article for more details.

Sorry, I do not understand the comment.
Are you saying that MARKET order for GTT is not available on Zerodha API but only on Web UI?
  • salim_chisty
Yes, the GTT order with the Trailing Stop-Loss feature is currently available only on the Kite Web platform and the same will be added via API in future updates.
