Dear Zerodha / Kite Connect Team, I am an individual Zerodha client and I am evaluating the Kite Connect API as a secondary/fallback real-time market-data source for my personal NSE cash-equity positional trading automation system. I have already reviewed the Kite Connect documentation regarding WebSocket market data, market depth, Bid/Ask prices and quantities, exchange timestamps, instrument data and circuit limits. Therefore, I do not need clarification on those documented features. Before finalising Kite Connect for this role, I require written clarification on the following five specific points. Please answer each point individually. A generic response that “Kite Connect provides market data APIs” will not be sufficient for this technical evaluation. 1. Market-Data Source / Independence My primary trading and market-data connection may be through another Indian broker, while Zerodha/Kite Connect would act as an independent secondary/fallback market-data source. Please clarify: - Is the NSE real-time market data delivered through Kite Connect sourced by Zerodha directly from NSE/exchange-authorised infrastructure? - Does Zerodha operate its own market-data receiving/distribution infrastructure rather than obtaining the data feed from another retail broker? - To the extent you are permitted to disclose, can the Kite Connect feed reasonably be considered an operationally independent market-data path from another broker's API/feed? I understand that all NSE market data ultimately originates from NSE. My requirement is to determine whether the broker/vendor processing and delivery path is independently operated, so that a failure at one broker's market-data infrastructure does not necessarily imply failure of the Zerodha feed. 2. Unattended VPS / Server-Side Use My personal application will run on my own Linux cloud VPS and may remain connected to the Kite WebSocket throughout market hours without my browser or personal computer remaining open. Please explicitly confirm whether such unattended server-side use of Kite Connect/WebSocket is permitted for an individual client for his/her own trading account, subject to normal authentication and API rules. I understand that the normal Kite authentication/access-token requirements will continue to apply. 3. Trading Restrictions / Suspension / Surveillance Information Apart from Upper/Lower Circuit or Price Band information, does Kite Connect provide any API-accessible information that can identify securities affected by: - Trading suspension, - Exchange-imposed trading restriction, - Surveillance measures, - Trade-to-Trade or similar security-level restrictions, or - Any other NSE restriction relevant to determining whether a fresh BUY should be permitted? If YES, please specify the relevant API endpoint/field/source. If this information is not available through Kite Connect, please clearly state so, because I will arrange an independent source for this safety check. 4. Internal Market-Data Retention My application needs to retain limited market-data observations received through Kite Connect for my own: - PAPER-trading validation, - Trade decision audit trail, - Troubleshooting, - Incident investigation, and - Recovery/reconciliation verification. The stored information will be for my own internal/personal use only and will not be redistributed, resold, publicly displayed or supplied as a market-data service to third parties. Please confirm whether such limited internal storage/retention is permitted under the Kite Connect terms applicable to an individual client, and whether any retention restrictions apply. 5. Historical/EOD Data and Corporate Actions For NSE cash equities, please clarify: - Whether historical daily OHLC data supplied through Kite Connect is raw/unadjusted or adjusted for stock splits, bonuses or other corporate actions. - Whether Kite Connect provides corporate-action information such as splits, bonuses, dividends, rights issues, mergers/demergers and their effective/ex-dates through an API. - If corporate-action information is not provided through Kite Connect, please confirm this so that I can use a separate authoritative source. Purpose of this clarification I am not requesting permission for market-data redistribution, commercial data vending, HFT or third-party trading. The system is intended for my own account and personal PAPER/live trading automation. My objective is simply to determine whether Kite Connect can safely serve as an independent secondary/fallback data source alongside another broker connection. Therefore, I would appreciate specific answers to Points 1–5, including a clear YES / NO / NOT AVAILABLE wherever appropriate, rather than a general description of Kite Connect.
