Kite Connect API – Order Placement Failing with 403 PermissionException

alpha_tech
Dear Zerodha Support Team,

We are facing an issue while placing orders through the Kite Connect API for our application, INDvestment.

Setup Details:
Kite Connect App: INDvestment (Personal)
Client ID Configuration: We changed the Zerodha Client ID configured in our app to IT4946 (Shaza) for testing.
Whitelisted Office IP: 117.247.188.210

Issue Details:
On 21 October 2026, at approximately 12:20 PM IST, during market hours, we tested order placement from our office network.

The following operations were tested:
Changed the app's Zerodha Client ID to IT4946 (Shaza).
Logged in to Zerodha using IT4946 through our application successfully.
Retrieved funds and holdings for IT4946 successfully.
Attempted to place a BUY market order for one share of IDEA on NSE, which was rejected.

Checks Performed:
Confirmed that the logged-in Zerodha user (IT4946) matches the Client ID configured in our application.
Verified that the access token was freshly generated.
Confirmed that the request originated from our whitelisted office IP (117.247.188.210) over IPv4.
Verified the order parameters before making the API call.

API Endpoint: POST https://api.kite.trade/orders/regular

Order Parameters:
Exchange: NSE
Trading Symbol: IDEA
Transaction Type: BUY
Order Type: MARKET
Product: CNC
Validity: DAY
Market Protection: 3
Tag: indvtest

API Response:
HTTP Status: 403 Forbidden
Error Type: PermissionException
Error Message: Insufficient permission for that call

Although login and read-only API calls are working correctly, order placement continues to fail with a PermissionException.
We request you to investigate why order placement is being denied after changing the app's Client ID to IT4946 (Shaza). Please confirm whether any additional API permissions, account-level activation, or application configuration is required to enable order placement through Kite Connect.

Kindly guide us on the steps required to resolve this issue.

Thank you.
