I have an active paid Kite Connect subscription and am developing a private quantitative trading and research application exclusively for my own Zerodha account.
I plan to use the official historical data API to retrieve NSE equity OHLCV candles and store them locally in a database using formats such as CSV or Parquet.
The stored data would be used only for personal historical analysis, strategy development and backtesting.
I will not sell, redistribute, publish, display publicly or provide third parties with access to the data.
I noticed that the Kite Connect instrument documentation recommends storing instrument data in a local database, while Section 4(b) of the API terms contains restrictions relating to permanent copies and database creation.
Could you please clarify:
Is storing historical OHLCV candles locally for personal research and backtesting permitted under a paid Kite Connect subscription?
Can I retain this data for repeated backtesting across several years, or must I delete it after a particular period?
Can I convert the downloaded candles into Parquet or another local database format for faster analysis?
Are there any specific restrictions on maintaining private backups of this historical data?
I am asking only about private, personal research use, not commercial redistribution or public market data services.
