I subscribed to KITE API (500/- per month). I created the App. In redirect URL I provided the localhost URL. This is all good.
However, I do not want to execute orders using kite API. I just want the daily OHLC data at the end of the day (or sometimes during the day). So no order, only historic data fetch.
Do I still need to login to kite app and obtain the access_token? Why can't we proceed with api_key and api_secret only? Similar data is available from many vendors without any login requirement. I am sure once a day login requirement from SEBI is for placing orders. Am I right?
Kite Connect is purely an execution platform. We provide historical data to our clients for personal use and only for backtesting. The only way to check if it is our client or not is by doing an authentication which is done by sending the api_key and access_token with each request. If you need only historical data then it is better you contact any exchange registered data vendor.
