Getting list of net open position and order status based on order id

Hi,

I am looking for the mechanism for the following:
1. I want to get the net list of the open position as of now.
2. I have the order id of the order I had placed earlier. I want to check the status of that order, if it is still open or have been closed manually.

Please help
