I have an active Kite Connect API subscription (₹500/month) and am developing a personal Python-based NSE equity research and trading application.
I need clarification on the following:
1. Can I download 15 years (2011–2026) of daily OHLCV data for approximately 500 NSE companies using the Historical Data API? 2. Is bulk downloading permitted under the ₹500/month subscription without additional charges? 3. Are there any restrictions on API requests, historical coverage or downloading data for 500 instruments? 4. Can I permanently store the downloaded data in my local database for personal research, technical analysis and backtesting? 5. Can I continue using previously downloaded data after my API subscription expires? 6. Does Zerodha provide historical continuity for renamed, merged, delisted or corporate-action-affected stocks?
Please confirm the technical limits and data retention permissions.
3: The API imposes limits on the date range that can be requested in a single call. For daily candles, you may need to retrieve the data in multiple requests to cover the required period. Please refer to the Historical Data API documentation for details and forum for more details.
6: Historical data is adjusted for corporate actions.
2 & 4, 5: You can use the data for analysis purposes. However, the data must not be permanently stored in a DB, or redistributed. Please refer to the Kite Connect Terms and Conditions for further details.
