Is there any recent change in the max no of instruments that can be streamed live?

https://kite.trade/docs/connect/v3/websocket/ page says 3000 can be streamed at a time

No, as the documentation states, it is max 3000 instruments per connection.

Is there any reason why the average number of instruments for active instruments is less that 500 for each tick

This is a recent change in behaviour. Earlier till about 2-3 weeks back, this average was higher!

No, there are no behavior changes from our side on kiteconnect ticker. We stream, as we get the tick packet from the exchanges.
