Kite login error - Invalid API Key

All of a sudden today i get a error when i try the following url in the browser to do some debugging...
https://kite.zerodha.com/connect/login?v=3&api_key=xxxxxxxxxxxxx

The error is
{"status":"error","message":"Invalid `api_key`","data":null,"error_type":"InputException"}

Is there some maintenance going on or is this something to do with my account? Can someone from zerodha team help?

Seems like your app is inactive and you may have to manually activate again before using it.

Hi Vivek,
Thanks for the reply. yes it shows status as cancelled. I don't know why. Now i created another app, the login for request token works but i'm unable to get the access token. I get a 403 - Forbidden Error. what could be wrong.

I believe the websocket usage is free and only using the api for placing orders and getting historic data requires a paid subscription. is this assumption right? or do i need to pay even to access the websocket?
