Historical data for Reliance produces the following candles. This is just an example of one particular day - there are weird candles for a lot of days for many stocks.
Can these candles (when available) be considered correct post-market price data, or should these simply be ignored?
You can ignore these candles. These stray ticks are sent by exchange ticker, and we clean these in the EOD chart process i.e at midnight. So, for current day candles fetch, it's always a good practise to send to and from time period.
These candles for 4 November 2021 are not incorrect.
Muhurat Trading was conducted on this day from 6:15 PM to 7:15 PM.
The candles on this day are Muhurat Trading candles .
For normal trading days, you will not encounter these after market candles as the post market data is removed at EOD as told by Sujith Sir in the thread mentioned by Rakesh Sir.
However,if you see after market candles with timestamps greater than 4 PM, you should ignore these as post-market session closes at 4 PM. Also, you will see that these candles after 4 PM will have 0 volume .
It claims that the candles might be available till 4pm, but I'm reporting candles here uptil 7pm.
