Starting October 2026, we are waiving the Kite Connect API subscription fee for active traders.
The ₹500 monthly subscription was introduced to keep our API infrastructure focused on users who actively trade through our platform. However, we believe traders who already generate brokerage through their trading activity shouldn’t have to pay an additional API subscription fee.
Going forward, we’ll check your brokerage after the end of each calendar month:
₹2,000 or more in brokerage: You’ll receive 500 developer credits (= ₹500).
These credits will be used to renew your Kite Connect app for the following month at no additional cost.
If your brokerage is below ₹2,000 for the month, the regular subscription charges will apply.
No action is required from your end. If you meet the eligibility criteria, the credits will be added to your account automatically.
It's great news, can we have something for generating token automatically using TOTP, Grow is providing this feature, If we have in Kite that would be great addition ????

Do we need to connect the Zerodha Account to Kite API? or how will Kite API know if I'm eligible?
No separate account connection is required. The criteria are that the user should be active user and generate ₹2,000 or more in brokerage during the month.
Eligibility is checked automatically, and ₹500 credits are added if the criteria are met.

You can check the brokerage generated in Console (end of the month). If the criteria are met but the credits have not been added, kindly write to [email protected].

This is an ongoing process. If you generate ₹2,000 or more in brokerage during the month, the ₹500 developer credits will be added for the following month, subject to the eligibility criteria.

If I have 2 applications in kite connect of 500 subscription each , then will the credit be 500 Or 1000?
If you have multiple apps under the same developer account, with each app linked to a different client ID, the subscription fee will apply separately to each app, provided the respective client IDs meet the eligibility criteria.
If the same client ID is linked to multiple apps under the same developer account, the ₹500 credit will be applicable to that client ID and will cover the subscription for all apps linked to it. we have paid once.

i have old zerodha and my monthly brokerage around 10K + i login to dev login today and create app it ask for 500 rs
The ₹500 credit is only applied if you have an active Kite Connect app at the time of credit issuance. If you met the ₹2,000 brokerage criteria but did not have an active app at that specific time, the credit might not have been credited.

I have 10,000rs+ brokerage in September month. My API key app was not active this month, So I need to renew it. But I don't see any credits on my account. Is this credit only for active Apps? Meaning I should pay 500rs once to renew: later on credits can be used If I do not use the credit this month: will it add up to next month making 1000 credits?

Only active Kite Connect users are eligible to receive 500 Developer Credits. Users who generate brokerage of ₹2,000 or more during a calendar month will be eligible for this benefit.

Yes, it will add up, and you can use it for app renewal.
If i generate 8000/- plus in brokerage can i get credits for 4 apps(4*2000)? One trading account can have i think 7 or 8 api keys/apps right? I remember reading some 75000 scrip limit per trading account and 9000 limit per api key

The credits are provided based on the applicable eligibility criteria and are not calculated as ₹500 for every ₹2,000 in brokerage generated. You may refer to this similar thread.
