NSE has introduced NIFTY weekly options with which all the weekly instruments format has changed.
Now the tradingsymbol BANKNIFTY14FEB1927500CE has become BANKNIFTY1921425000CE.
The format is BANKNIFTY<YY><M><DD>strike<PE/CE>

The month format is 1 for JAN, 2 for FEB, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, O(capital o) for October, N for November, D for December.

    $kiteobject->getQuote('NFO:BANKNIFTY1922727500CE');

    @thepanoramix,
    Exactly! this was our reaction when we got the circular.
    Unfortunately, we can't do anything about it since it is the exchange specified format.

  • sujith
    @sanbanbalu,
    The name change is only for weekly instruments and not for monthly instruments.
  • sanbanbalu
    yes, I got it . But still BANKNIFTY19MAR29900CE is not available though it is allowed to trade 29300 to 30000 CE and PE

    In reference to this. Does this symbol creation work at the month's expiry? NIFTY2152715300CE is giving me a problem.

    please guide.
  • sujith
    The monthly expiry naming convention won't change. Nifty MAY 15300 CE tradingsymbol will look like this
    NIFTY21MAY15300CE
    You can take a look at instruments master for correct tradingsymbol.

    Thanks Sujith.

    So when it,s the last Thursday of a month, the Date format "MAY" instead of 5 and there is no date included. right?

    One more query, what if the last Thursday falls on NSE holiday?
  • sujith
    There is no weekly expiry instrument if it is the last week of the month since the monthly expiry instrument is already there.

    Hi guys
    I am trying to get the last price for october expiry, as suggested above 'O' (capital o) I have taken as month. This is the scrip NFO:NIFTY21O2817300PE I have in mind, is that correct for Nifty 17300 CE, 2021 October 28th?
    Thanks.
  • rakeshr
    October 28th(the last Thursday of the month) will be monthly expiry, not weekly expiry.
    As @sujith mentions above
    There is no weekly expiry instrument if it is the last week of the month since the monthly expiry
    instrument is already there.
